How to update the BIOS version of a Dell Server using EFI file

Steps:

Please download the Bios XXX.EFI file for your server from the Dell support site.

1. Copy the file to a USB device.

Note: If you are doing this locally, copy the file to a USB FAT 32 device format on the root of the drive. Alternatively, create an image file of the .efi file and mount it in the virtual media of the iDRAC. How to use the virtual media of iDRAC is explained in this article.

2. Plug in the USB device and press F11 during POST to enter BIOS Boot Manager

3. Select the boot from file option.

4. Point the server to the location of the file that is in the thumb drive or mounted image in the iDRAC.

5. The server will reboot and the below screen will be displayed. Please Select "Continue Bios Update" option.

6. Update of the BIOS will be launched.

The BIOS version is now updated.
